"I love being part of this friendly group of musicians. Playing a wide range of music with like minded people in a relaxed setting, where a sense of humour and enthusiasm are more important than perfect performance, is fun."
"Spend a great evening with like minded people playing great music "
"As a founder member of 20 years, I have enjoyed playing in this group, using a range of repertoires available only for string ensembles. It's a different and more refined experience from orchestral playing - you don't get drowned out by the woodwind and brass sections!"
" I took up the violin after retiring and the best thing I ever did was to join this delightful group. Charlotte, our conductor, is absolutely super. Socially, I have met a lot of people, which is important, especially if you are on your own, like me. I will never look back; it's such a wonderful experience to know people of like minds."
"I arrived as a nervous & anxious Grade 3 [just] adult learner ... and now thanks to the experience of this wonderful group, I have developed significantly over time and am now a nearly competent and confident player in two other orchestras. Thank you Charlotte and members!"
"An excellent introduction to chamber music and small group playing under the extremely competent baton of Charlotte Pinder."
"My violin had been in its case for 35 years when I dusted it down and started playing again. I was nervous and very dubious about my ability to play with others but going along to the Abbeydale Strings group was the best decision I made. It's friendly and informal, with players ranging across various ability levels and yet Charlotte, our wonderful tutor, manages to keep on finding music we can all play and learn from. There isn't any pressure so we can be relaxed but we do find our tutor keen to encourage us to improve, with techniques explained patiently. We learn as we have fun, and I still look forward every week to my Wednesday evenings after fifteen years."
